Local resources and indoor recycling

LOCAL RESORUCES AND INDOOR RECYCLING

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Copenhagen municipality is investigating and testing how the people of Copenhagen can be encouraged to sort more of their waste for recycling. This is done in order to achieve the goal of reaching 45% of sorted waste/material fit for recycling in 2018. The project is about testing a service design for how the local resources - e.g. operating staff and department board - in housing departments can play a role as ambassadors for indoor recycling towards the rest of the areas residents. By service design, it is meant that the type, and degree, of service from the municipality of Copenhagen that best supports the local resources in the role of ambassadors for indoor recycling. The test took place in the social housing department 'Den Gule Misundelse' in Christianshavn, which is managed by Lejerbo, København.

Kids Democracy - Part II

KIDS DEMOCRACY - PART II - Development, testing and anchoring
A practical tool for Kids Democracy

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This project is an extension of the pilot project: Kids Democracy in social housing areas (Part I) - Survey and pilot testing.

The focal point for part II is to further the development, testing and anchoring of Kids Democracy in four different housing departments and housing organizations across the country. The aim is to give children influence over their own lives, where they live and at the same time achieve more well-functioning housing areas via Kids Democracy.

The focus is on further development and testing of various child involvement methods and tools that can support the children's and the residential area's permanent resources in the work with Kids Democracy. The methods and tools must accommodate different degrees of child involvement, so that there is an opportunity to involve children, in relation to the needs and possibilities of the children and the individual residential area.

In addition to Boligselskabet AKB, Rødovre (project owner), FOB in Slagelse, CIVICA in Odense and Himmerland Boligforening in Aalborg participate in the project. It is our ambition to put child involvement and child democracy on the agenda in the social housing sector specifically and in society in general.

Helhedsplan for Vapnagaard

COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR RESIDENTIAL SOCIAL WORK IN VAPNAGAARD FOR THE PERIOD 2015-2017

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Vapnagaard is a residential area in Helsingør municipality, which is characterized by both containing a large number of strengths and resources, and also by being challenged in a number of areas. In close cooperation with residents and employees, new efforts and activities were developed to solve the challenges in Vapnagaard, with a focus on ensuring a long lasting effect after the end of the comprehensive plan. In the comprehensive plan, an overall vision for Vapnagaard was drawn up as a guideline for the residential social work. The vision was translated into four general goals and areas of action as well as a large number of activities to achieve the goals and visions set out. For the residents, a pixie version of the comprehensive plan was developed with a focus on which activities they could participate in, either as regular participants or as volunteers.

WELLFARE SURVEY AT VAPNAGAARD 2015

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Konradi - life in and between the houses has, in connection with the evaluation activities of the comprehensive plan for residential social work in Vapnagaard, conducted the first of two wellfare surveys among the residents. The survey was carried out as a questionnaire survey in connection with the start-up of the comprehensive plan in autumn of 2015 and will function as a baseline measurement of well-being. At the same time, the purpose of the questionnaire survey was to collect knowledge about the residents' wishes and needs, so that the comprehensive plan's activities could be organized thereafter. In the questionnaire, topics such as neighbourhood unity, volunteerism and resident democracy was surveyed.

The second wellfare survey will be carried out as an impact measurement of the comprehensive plan for residential social work at the end of the comprehensive plan in autumn of 2017.

RESULTS

Results from the wellfare questionnaire survey, January 2016.

The target group is primarily the employees and management of the comprehensive plan. The results provide the opportunity to define potential focus areas in the plan going forward.

Cooperation

MAPPING AND PLAYBOOK ON COOPERATION FOR PRACTITIONERS

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Increased operating costs, and thus higher rents, are putting financial pressure on many social housing departments. At the same time, a higher level of service, efficiency and professionalization of the housing organizations is typically expected. Cooperation between social housing departments offers the opportunity to ensure a high professional quality, cheaper operation and better resident service.

The project's focus was to create new knowledge about cooperation and to show how to create the best framework for cooperation. The project was divided into two parts, which were about 1) mapping the forms of co-operation that exist in fsb today and experiences from other housing organisations, and 2) developing a tool (playbook) for carrying out the co-operation process. The project was carried out in close collaboration with operational staff and the management of fsb. At the same time, a number of other housing organizations contributed to both the mapping and development of the tool.

From common space to community

FROM COMMON SPACE TO COMMUNITY

ABOUT THE PROJECT

In many social housing units, there are modern and renovated common areas and common facilities with great potential to create a framework for the community between the residents. The project's basic idea is that residents and resident-elected representatives have the potential to create (even) greater unity, joint activities and community in their area, by using the physical spaces to a greater extent.

The inspiration comes from housing associations and other strong communities in and outside the social housing sector. The project examines what works elsewhere and develops a 'practical tool' for how residents or resident-elected representatives can contribute to strengthening the community.

The project is based on the thesis that by focusing on strengthening the community, you can contribute to a better quality of life for the individual residents specifically, and to more well-functioning residential areas in general.

RESULTS

Fællesskabskalender - ’Hvad kan vi lave sammen i vores boligafdeling?’ - 2017

The target group is residents, resident groups and resident-elected representatives in the social housing areas.

Kids Democracy - Part I

KIDS DEMOCRACY - PART I - Investigation and pilot testing

ABOUT THE PROJECT

In collaboration with the housing department AKB, Ved Milestedet in Rødovre, we investigated in 2015-2016 how to work with children's democracy in social housing areas. The purpose was to investigate what, and how, children can have an influence and to collect the first practical experiences on the involvement of children in social housing areas via the implementation of a pilot project.

Kids Democracy's fundamental idea is to give children influence over their own lives, where they live, and at the same time achieve more well-functioning housing areas. On the basis of experience gained from the study and the pilot test, the project must be scaled up in part II. This means that different child involvement methods must be further developed and tested across the country in four different housing areas in the project: Involvement of children in social housing areas via Kids Democracy: Development, testing and anchoring – a practical tool for Kids Democracy.

RESULTS

Børnedemokrati i almene boligområder – erfaringer fra AKB Ved Milestedet (inspiration booklet).

The inspiration booklet can be read by everyone in social housing organizations with an interest i, and a desire to work with Kids Democracy. The booklet will also be used in Part II.

Cube was established in 2015 by Helsingør municipality to support children and young people in the residential area with major challenges in relation to getting their lives and everyday life on track. Our task was to identify, collect and pass on the experiences of challenges and opportunities that made themselves felt for the central actors in and around Cube. The aim was to achieve a common knowledge base which could contribute to the people behind Cube's ability to discuss and assess the future efforts at Cube.

RESULTS
